Review: BE Pretty Smoky

by Jen on January 10, 2012

There were two major new kits presented on QVC last week, Color of Cool and Pretty Smoky. Today I’m taking a closer look at the later, with photos and swatches galore. But just as with a good book, it can be hard to wait for the ending, so I’ll “spoil” it for you now. If you haven’t already ordered this kit, do it now!

Pretty Smoky is a four piece kit that includes the following:

  • Queen Phyllis Matte
  • Smoked Brown
  • Smoked Gray
  • Smoked Purple
  • Double-Ended Smoky Eye Brush

As you can see from the photos, these are some seriously smoked out colors. If you’ve been watching the presentations on QVC for a while, you’ve heard “a little goes a long way” many, many times, and that’s true of all of BE’s eye colors. But the ones included in this kit are really, really pigmented–just a few grains of color are all you need for truly smoky eyes, so be careful!

Having said that, the gray and purple colors included with the kit are absolutely fantastic. The brown is a nice shade too, but extremely dark and I’ll be honest when I say that I’ve never really been a fan of brown. Both the brown and gray shades are matte, while the purple shade has some subtle shimmer. It isn’t too much but it is pretty, and adds some depth to the color.

If you have any interest at all in smoky eyes, run right over to QVC and order this kit, or you’ll be kicking yourself later. If the colors look too intense for you, just just use less and blend well; it’s easy with the larger shading end of the brush that’s included with the kit. The brochure includes easy directions and an eye chart for the look, so that even if you’ve been challenged by the smoky eye before you’ll be able to create the look this time. It’s currently available for $36 and is item number A2221696.
